The 2008 Australian Barista Competition was held on May 3rd and May 4th in Melbourne. This year's competition was biggest and best, with sixteen competitors vying for placement in the finals.

In 1st place was David Malkin of the St Ali roastery and café in Melbourne; in 2nd place was Con Harambopoulos of 7 Grams café in Melbourne and in 3rd place was Jenny Murray of Five Senses Roastery in Rockingham. Going down the line in 4th place was Anne Cooper, in 5th place Hazel de los Reyes, in 6th place was Ian Callahan, in 7th place was Aaron Kindred, in 8th place was Patrick Connolly and in 9th place was Kallum Wilkinson.
