Submission Guidelines for Café Reviews

Each review should contain the following details:

  • Creative Title: Does your title make sense? Does it interest the reader? Will search engines know what the review is about?
  • In your review, talk about the food (menu selection), coffees, teas and other beverages. Write about what stands out for you and what you think makes this cafe special. Be descriptive in your review. Discuss the atmosphere and ambience.
  • As for review length, we prefer shorter reviews to longer ones. Aim for a minimum of 100 words to a maximum of 400 words per review.
  • Reviews must be in English.
  • Photos are welcome and encouraged.

General Guidelines

Submissions are accepted only by uploading on our specific web page as directed.

Reviews may be edited for spelling, grammar and content to suit the style of our publication.

Since we aim for consistency in quality of the reviews published by TheCafeGuide.com, we cannot guarantee that reviews will be published on our websites or in print. However, if we do publish your reviews, we will include your name for writer’s credit.

TheCafeGuide.com does not pay for its reviews, but as a writer published on the site you will get a chance to see your name in print, and this is a great way for writers just starting out or already established in the business to build their writing portfolio.

Editorial Style & Policy

Reviews must be in English.

Use standard e-mail etiquette. No ALL CAPS, HTML tags or excessive typographic symbols. Please note that most text and paragraph formatting, including lists, will not appear in user reviews.

Express yourself in your own voice, and reveal your individual style through your unique descriptions and opinions.

Avoid excessive negativity in your reviews, and avoid profanity.

Always strive for accuracy, avoid libel, and ensure the reviews are your own.

When you submit your review, you agree that each of the following is true:

a. The review contains accurate information.
b. The review is not libelous.
c. The review is your original work not someone else's, and no part of the review infringes on anyone’s copyright.
d. TheCafeGuide.com has permission to edit and publish your review.
e. TheCafeGuide.com is not responsible or liable for any errors in your reviews, nor are we responsible for any inconveniences or problems that might arise from such errors.

Photo Requirements

This is optional, but good, clear, quality photos can accompany your review. We accept photos uploaded to the site with your review in jpeg format. As with reviews, inclusion of photos is at the discretion of TheCafeGuide.com.

Before you upload your photos, you may want to use a free tool called Picassa to organize them. The program automatically reduces their size for uploading but doesn't affect the files themselves. It's a great free program offered by Google.

Photos that accompany reviews must be owned by the writer and authorized for use on TheCafeguide.com. If you submit photos with your reviews you guarantee that the photos belong to you and that you have full authority to use the photo in association with your reviews.
