La Ficelle, 1665, DE MAISONNEUVE OUEST, Montreal
La Ficelle is an odd combination of pastry shop café and video store near Guy-Concordia metro. One wouldn't think much of it by the décor but it actually whips out some pretty good espressos, lattes and cappuccinos. Café Union, a popular Quebec distributor, supplies their coffee and has customized a special blend for La Ficelle, which probably explains why the coffee is so good.
Some of the
pastries can be quite delicious such as their apple turnovers (which I haven't
seen in a while), otherwise their sandwiches and salads are semi-decent. The
clientele is mostly Middle Eastern like the owners and also comprises some Concordia University students. This place sometimes stays open until midnight for late rentals.
