Cafe Reviews > Penn Street Perk
Penn Street Perk, 1300 Pennsylvania St Ste 101, Denver Penn Street Perk is a Capitol Hill haunt where you're as likely to eavesdrop about a grueling assignment as you are the fate of the Titanic. Located next to the Molly Brown House, the space allows for museum visitors and nearby office workers to mingle with the many laptop users (free WiFi). Penn Street Perk serves coffee by local roasters, Coda, who are passionate and knowledgeable about their beans. I enjoyed an americano, which was made perfectly, rich with crema and none of the bitterness that so often occurs. The espresso was bold enough to withstand the soy I later added. Their White Star Mocha and chai are also wonderful when you're craving something sweet. Hungry? They offer the gamut from moist, locally-baked goods to hearty salads, as well as flavorful paninis named after the glorious sailing vessles of the past. The Normandie is their ham & cheese with a twist - sun-dried tomato paste, basil pesto, and spicy cajun mustard. The baristas are attentive and friendly and often chat with regulars as they prepare each beverage. Their menu is extensive and the prices reasonable. All this in a cozy setting where modern art mixes with classic voyage posters from a celebrated era.
