Java Hut, 4313 Wadsworth Blvd, Denver
While others are driving to the local Starbucks, I am getting in my car to head to Java Hut to get one of the best cups of coffee in Denver.
Java Hut is not your run of the mill coffee shop. It is a stand-alone shack located at 44th and Wadsworth Boulevard in Denver, Colorado. With its green exterior and breakfast burrito sign hanging by the side of the road, you might miss it if you aren't looking for it. But you should look for it.
A breakfast burrito full of potatoes, eggs, green chili and cheese is warm in my hand and protected by foil (easier to eat while driving). The hazelnut latte I get, with whipped cream, it is breakfast after all, is put in a plain cup – no fancy logos here, just good coffee served with a smile, a conversation, or even a straw. The straw makes this cup of coffee different.
The pumpkin loaf is one of the best homemade treats around. Full of spice, pumpkin and soft, it is especially good with the chocolate chunks scattered throughout. Talk about the way mom used to make it (I don't know how your mom made pumpkin bread, but this is the way I WISH she had made it.)
The whole breakfast burrito and coffee total comes to a grand amount of $4.50.
Make sure you don't miss this side of the road delight! It will be well worth your drive.
